My Experience and Techniques
In my professional journey I have had the privilege of working in a sixth form college, providing counselling to students aged 16 to 19. During this time, I supported young people facing a range of mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, self-harm and more.
I worked collaboratively with each student to identify their needs offering tailored support through various therapeutic approaches and creative interventions.
Although working with children and young people is a passion, I also have experience working with all age groups experiencing a wide range of personal issues.
How Can Counselling Help?
Counselling is a journey of self-discovery and healing where you are supported and guided in taking the next steps in life.
Counselling can help improve mental health, build self-awareness, enhance relationships, develop coping strategies, achieve personal goals or healing past wounds.
Gestalt Therapy
Gestalt means whole, that seeks to integrate mind, body and emotions.
Gestalt Therapy helps connect how past experiences might still affect you in the present. Through techniques like role play and guided awareness exercises, Gestalt helps process unresolved emotions, explore unfinished business and blocks that may be limiting growth.
Person Centred Counselling
Is in the name, where we believe with the right conditions and help the client can reach their full potential. The counsellor is led by the client. The client is free to bring their own issues, thoughts, feelings and behaviours.... this promotes greater self-awareness and independence.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT is a practical goal orientated approach that focuses on helping you identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours that may be affecting your emotional well-being. Thoughts, feelings and behaviours are all interconnected; by changing the way we think about situations can change how we feel and act in a positive manner.
